3 Ways To Wear It: UGG Luxe

If there is one thing I can always, always be relied upon for, it is never being able to resist a challenge. I mean ever. This has got me into a few scrapes in the past in particular during my teenage years but sartorially speaking, I don’t think it’s such a bad thing. I mean, it can be. Challenging oneself to go barelegged in a backless dress at the British Fashion Awards in mid December is not necessarily the smartest of decisions. Daring to pair skintight leather pants with preppy accessories and discovering a mix n’ match sent straight from heaven however is a total result. So when UGG challenged me to give their brand new “luxe” style boot the 3 Ways To Wear It treatment I thought, bring it on…

Casual

Ok, so this wasn’t exactly rocket science. Casual is the Ugg boot’s modus operandi. It’s raison d’etre. It’s USP and a dozen other wanky ways of putting this non statement too. But casual doesn’t mean throwing a pair of sweatpants or, God forbid, leggings (NOT TROUSERS EVER) into the mix. As someone for whom a cocktail frock can sometimes seem like a sensible pub supper option, the level of laid back exuded by Ugg boots has long made me a little uncomfortable. So I tried to strike a balance between pared down and polished by pairing my luxe Uggs with a smart, well cut pair of IDA jeans, my newly beloved Essentiel Antwerp knit and trusty black Mulberry Bayswater tote.

Preppy

Preppy is to me what casual is to Uggs. It’s my bread and butter, baby. Therefore it’s only logical that this element of a 3 Ways To Wear It is usually both my favourite and the one I find easiest. Except for that leather pants time, which I’m still not convinced totally worked. Looking back at this look I realize that I in fact rehashed an outfit formula that dominated several of my teenage years to create an upgraded version more suited to the 2015 prepster than her mid noughties counterpart. In lieu of the super low slung, overly treated, skin tight crotch skimming denim mini, I opted for the sell-out-in-seconds A-line style from Alexa Chung’s debut collection for AG Jeans. The ill fitting, pastel pink overly logo-d polo that was my pride and joy aged 13 was replaced by a neatly tailored gingham Carven number, layered under a personalized Whistles bomber jacket. As for the Uggs themselves? Swapping the tattered, sagging, filthy sand coloured pair I wore e-v-e-r-y-w-e-a-r for several boarding school years for the new black luxe style was as ideal upgrade (or rather ugg-grade…) decision.

I know that I usually do “After Dark” or “Sophisticated” for my 3rd way to wear it but this time I’m switching it for “Great Outdoors”. I’m sorry but wearing Ugg boots at a cocktail bar or in the boardroom is just not ok… EVER. These bad boys are however, perfect for being a bit outdoorsy. A big issue, in my opinion, with original Ugg boots is that in terms of design alone they are better suited to indoor wearing than outdoor practicality. Don’t get me wrong, they make cracking slippers, but wearing them out and about has always been something of a hazard thanks to lack of structure and soft soles which have a habit of soaking up any moisture, kind of an issue in England! The new Ugg luxe style has addressed these problems by making these boots stronger, more structured and with thicker soles , therefore meaning they are suitable for country rambles, damp Starbucks runs, ski resorts and, of course, hearty pub lunches.

What do you think of this edition of 3 Ways To Wear It? Which is your favourite look?

3 Thoughts on 3 Ways To Wear It: UGG Luxe

  1. Matt says:

I love all those outfits Especially the preppy one, WOW that looks stunning, like if a woman wore it on a date I’d be super impressed. I’ve always thought Ugg boots look beautiful, my college girlfriend Megan always wore her dark blue/black Uggs, no matter the weather, even in summer, and they looked amazing on her. I still remember this all these years later. You make an amazing model, you’re stunningly gorgeous and your hairstyle looks very pretty. You also have a natural charisma for modelling. And a great eye for fashion.

  2. I just love your blog and every single article. You really inspire me, I follow you on instagram and snapchat. Your life seems amazing and I would love to do the same in a few years (because I’m 18). Anyway, I was asking myself how did you get there? I mean what did you do to be a famous blogger, model and everything? Kisses from France. Hope you will answer me. Thank you Ella !!
