I remember my first encounter with Banana Republic like it was yesterday. I was 14 years old, on holiday in New York with my parents and had recently made the transition from pony obsessed tomboy to fashion obsessed teenager. After trying on pretty much the entire contents of the shop, begging my mother to buy me most of it and, I’m ashamed to admit, sulking when she refused, I bemoaned the fact that we didn’t have Banana Republic back home in London. Well karma obviously decided not to punish me for my tantrum that afternoon as a couple of years later, we did. Nowadays I’m a regular visitor to the brand’s Regents Street flagship and can attest that it’s still every bit as chic as it was during my stroppy teenage years. So as you can imagine, I was thrilled to hear about Banana Republic’s high summer collaboration with American designer, Trina Turk. The designer’s legendary power prints have earned her a legion of A-list fans including Eva Longoria and from what I’ve seen so far, her limited edition capsule collection for Banana Republic doesn’t disappoint. Plus, how stunning is this ad campaign starring Coco Rocha? I certainly wouldn’t say no to being poolside right now!
