Behind-the-Scenes at Penelope Chilvers Studio

If you read Grazia, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Vanity Fair or basically any other major fashion publication the chances are, you’ve heard of Penelope Chilvers. Since launching her eponymous shoe brand 7 years ago, Penelope’s exquisite, handcrafted footwear has earned her stockists all over the world and legions of fashionable fans including Alexa Chung and the Duchess of Cambridge. Having lusted after her bespoke Dandy slippers forever I was thrilled when the Penelope Chilvers team got in touch with me a few weeks ago to invite me along to their West London HQ. I always find it absolutely fascinating to see where designers dream up the collections I covet and this was no exception.

Penelope’s studio was somewhere between an office and a very chic sitting room with her AW12 artfully arranged on every available surface. I could easily continue boring you with a blow-by-blow account on my morning – including a slight altercation with an unfriendly terrier on the way home – but, as the saying goes, a picture’s worth a thousand words so here are a couple more I took…
