Central Saint Martins and Palladium Alliance MA Jewellery Competition: The Finalists are announced!

At the end of last year, Central Saint Martins College teamed up with Palladium Alliance to discover the next big name in the world of jewellery design. The College challenged students from its MA Jewellery Design course to create their own unique collection of bespoke jewellery using the precious metal, Palladium. Palladium is an über rare platinum group metal that is hard, light and remains naturally white for its lifetime… So I think it’s safe to say that the results of this competition should be fairly spectacular.

After months and months of slaving over their sketchbooks, the 5 finalists have been announced! The chosen few were selected by an elite panel of industry experts, including luxury jewellery designer Hannah Martins, Editor-in-Chief of Harpers Bazaar Magazine Lucy Yeoman’s and Fashion Editor-at-Large of Grazia Magazine Melanie Rickey.

As one of these talented students may well go on to be the next Steven Webster, Dinny Hall or Anina Vogel, this is pretty much fashion history in the making. Check out this video to see exactly how the 5 finalists made the cut…

With only a couple of months until the end of the competition, the pressure is on for these 5 students to use this rare precious metal to produce something truly inspiring. The students collections will be showcased at an exclusive event in March where the winner will be chosen not only by our trusty judging panel but also by internationally renowned desiger and St Martins Alumn, Giles Deacon. Naturally the star-studdent event will be attended, enjoyed and fully reported on by yours truly. I know I’m excited, and not (just) because of the free champagne!

    I love the judge in the middle, a woman in a leopard scarf!
