There isn’t a great deal to write about this particular event. Not in that it wasn’t fabulous, it was. But Nanette Lepore promised us champagne and shopping, and that is precisely what she delivered. Oh, and of course the chance to have a good rifle through her DIVINE resort 2013 collection, resulting in many a drunken purchase or three.
By the end of London Fashion Week my feet were so swollen, blistered and generally disgusting/painful that I hadn’t been able to face high heels since. After a few days of Gossip Girl re-runs, grooming and elasticated waistbands (I even wore Ugg boots at one point) I felt ready to get back in my platforms, which was just as well because any party hosted by Nanette Lepore is inevitably a glamourous affair. Indeed, her adorable Westbourne Grove boutique looked even chicer than usual with the addition of cupcake towers and uniformed waiters handing out flutes of champagne. Nanette had jetted in from the states especially for the occasion and the New York fashion doyenne had us all in raptures with tales of the high pressure lead up to this season’s show.
As you’ve probably gathered, I’m an absolute sucker for the designer’s colourful, flirty aesthetic so between the wealth of Nanette Lepore creations on show, bubbly on tap and DJ Alex Gromadzki on the decks, I was pretty much a six year old in a sweet shop… And despite thinking I wouldn’t be able to think of more than a few words to write about it, I seem to have managed it, funny that.
Love Ella. X
