Earlier this week the lovely folk at Goodley PR invited me down to Couverture & The Garbstore to indulge in a spot of afternoon tea and enjoy a tour of the shop.
Nestled in the heart of Notting Hill this delectable boutique is a mere stones through from my favourite shopping haunts Portobello Road and Westbourne Grove yet I am ashamed to say that I had never visited before. Well, all that is about to change and I will most certainly be making a few more trips to Couverture & The Garbstore during my upcoming new season shopping sprees. Not only does it have one of THE most divine locations in London, the eclectic combination of womenswear, menswear, chidrenswear, homeware and vintage finds make Couverture & The Garbstore a veritable treasure trove of delights.
Couverture & The Garbstore is the sartorial brainchild of former Paul Smith designer, Emily Dyson and her husband, menswear designer Ian Paley. The couple combined their fashion nous to relaunch Dyson’s own Chelsea boutique, as a concept store stocking carefully sourced items from all over the world. Couverture & The Garbstore was founded with the aim to support up-and-coming, independant brands and introduce them to the London fashion scene. After having a good, old fashioned nose around I can vouch that the little known labels in store are a true testament to Emily and Pauls discerning eye.
Set over three charmingly ramshackle floors, entering the shop almost feels as though you’ve stumbled into someone’s bedroom, provided of course that was a very stylish someone.
The meticulously chosen pieces in stock are generally only available in small quantites, so you can shop at Couverture & The Garbstore free from the fear of bumping into six other people wearing the exact same dress as you. And if that doesn’t entice you down to check out this most boutique of boutique’s then frankly, I don’t know what would.
Love Ella. X
