La Petite Party Diaries… D&ME Summer Party

It’s official, Thursday is the new Friday so if you’re throwing any sort of event don’t even THINK about doing it on a weekend. Once again this week I was struck with the very best sort of dilemma of having been invited to 4 parties on 1 night and was immediately thrown into turmoil over which ones to attend, what order to do it in and most importantly what to wear. After careful consideration I kicked off my evening (well, late afternoon really) with a summer soiree thrown by the fash packs favourite vintage emporium, D&ME.

Just around the corner from Chanel on the Brompton Road, D&ME is a treasure trove of sartorial delights set over four floors of a gorgeous Georgian house. But whilst the clothing may be vintage, there is nothing remotely thrift-store about this heavenly (literally) boutique. Think pieces by Alaia, Hermes, YSL, Chanel and just about every other renowned couturier all in perfect condition and more beautifully displayed than the Harvey Nicks windows at Christmas. I was first introduced to Marcelle and Jessica, the lovely ladies behind D&ME, back in January when Iman and I were pulling looks for Olivia Palermo to wear on the cover of Haute Muse magazine. Within the first 5 minutes of entering the shop I had fallen head over heels in love with it’s endless array of one-of-a-kind finds and since then have often found myself browsing the rails, dreaming of the day I can treat myself to a fabulous frock twice my own age!

Anyway, last Thursday D&ME hosted a not-so-little drinks party to celebrate the launch of their new online boutique,  www.dandme.co.uk. By the time I arrived at about 5.30pm the South Kensington store was already packed with terrifyingly well-dressed guests sipping delicious watermelon martini’s and pouring over the even-more-delicious clothes. The party managed to be both extremely chic and refreshingly laid back, much like the boutique itself and I think it’s safe to say that D&ME is on a fast-track to serious fashion stardom.
