Vintage Bar
Rue de La Verrerie, Le Marais
A true gem tucked away in Le Marais packed with incredible slices of fashion history. Vintage lovers with cash to splash should head here to find original Yves Saint Laurent Le Smoking jackets and mint condition Hermes Birkins and Chanel handbags older but probably far better preserved than themselves.
Essential Antwerp
Rue Saint Sulpice, St Germain de Pres
I’m SO glad I stumbled across this fantastic shop on my last morning in Paris. Full of lovely staple pieces with a modern twist. Think clean lines, simple shapes and good quality fabrics bought bang up to date with eye-catching embellishment and gorgeous prints. Great accessories and shoes here too.
Jerome Dreyfuss
Rue Jacob, Saint Germain de Pres
As everyone in the English (and possibly french) speaking world is well aware, I am OBSESSED with handbags and so the second I laid eyes on this divine shop I fell head over heels in love with the arm candy on offer. Jerome Dreyfuss offers up a huge variety of achingly cool yet deliciously luxe bags in butter soft leather, exotic animal skins and slouchy shapes galore. Not exactly wallet friendly but when the stock’s this hot who the hell cares if you can’t afford your Eurostar ticket home.
Art’s
Rue Vielle du Temple, Le Marais
Fans of Jil Sander and Cos will love, love, LOVE this shop! Art’s is pretty much the last word in minimalism with clean lines, fuss-free shapes and not an embellishment in sight. Not stocked in England (obviously a bonus) and really quite reasonably priced too.
Nanie
Boulevard St Germain, St Germain de Pres
As it was conveniently located right at the end of our road we couldn’t help but pay a visit or three to Nanie and it was just as well we did. This eclectic little boutique stocks a slightly bizarre but nonetheless covetable selection of brands ranging from Cheap Monday and Citizens of Humanity to b&ash, Anna Studio and Iro. Sadly much more expensive than you’d think from first glance.
Carven
Rue Saint Sulpice, St Germain de Pres
It may have been founded way back in 1945 but over the past few seasons Carven has gone from long since forgotten couturier to one of the most in-demand brands around and I along with the rest of the fashion world, have fallen head over heels in love with former Givenchy designer Guillame Henry’s chic seperates and too-die-for dresses. Do they have a flagship store in London? Frankly I don’t know (and definitely should) but even though you can get your hands on Carven’s delectable designs in Matches, Harvey Nicks and every other London fashion emporium worth it’s salt, nothing compares to visiting their exquisite boutique in the city where it all began.
Le Bon Marche
24 Rue de Sèvres, St Germain de Pres
It may lack the aesthtic appeal of Liberty’s and the historic charm of Harrods but in terms of stock, layout and just about everything else Le Bon Marche puts every other department store in Europe to shame. Whether you’re out to splash some serious cash on Celine or simply invest in a new pair of Acne jeans, I can guarantee that Bon Marche will have just the thing to fill that gaping hole in your wardrobe. Plus, as much as I adore strolling from boutique to boutique, there’s nothing quite like having all your favourite brands under one roof for maximum shopping convenience.
