LFW SS16: The Looks

Picking up where we left off with fashion month last week, let’s talk LFW SS16. As you might have already clocked, I’m trying something a little different with these posts. Given the embarrassingly long time that’s passed since the shows thanks to laptop-gate etc, I thought it might make more sense to do something a bit more concise as opposed to trying to recant every single day in the kind of detail that results in writing the best part of 2000 words for each post. So, without further ado, here are my London Fashion Week looks…

Day 1

Wearing Natasha Zinko Resort 2016 dress & shirt with Kate Spade NY and Alexander White heels

Natasha Zinko is one of my absolute favourite new (ish) designers and I’ve been dying to don one of her playful yet exquisitely constructed creations for ages. When Natasha invited me to do so for her SS16 presentation during LFW there was no way in hell I wasn’t going to leap at that opportunity and this white denim plus polkadot number from her Resort 2016 collection captured my heart instantly. As with anything in life, I think when it comes to standout outfits you may as well go hard or go home so upping the “look at me” stakes further with the addition of a googly eyed owl handbag by my beloved Kate Spade NY and shiny pink Alexander White stilettos seemed like a no brainer. Also, Natasha is currently doing a trunk show with Moda Operandi so you can pre order her delectable looks online here.

Wearing Markus Lupfer AW15 dress, jacket & trainers with Thakoon bag and Fendi sunglasses

I suspect know full well that I don’t need to tell you how much I adore Markus Lupfer. Rarely a week goes by without his uplifting,  glitter strewn wares featuring on the blog. So of course I had no qualms about wriggling around in the back of our badass Maserati (best fashion week ride of all time!) throwing discarded clothes at Naomi to change into this total look between Natasha and his shows. He also served tequila and tacos at said show which I strongly feel should be mandatory at any fashion week event from now on… slash maybe just every event full stop.

So I’m gonna level with you, despite the jet lack plus stress plus exhaustion I felt like a sodding rockstar on my first day of LF SS16 as it involved so many outfit changes in the back off a freaking Maserati… I mean, dream. The fabulousness of experiences like that will never cease to render me speechless and hopelessly over excited, at least I hope not. After the House of Holland show – which was awesome, as per – Naomi and I went for some utterly delectable food and an also delectable bottle of wine before Charlie May’s presentation. Then I slung outfit change number three in the Maserati (turned out the windows were not tinted unfortunate as we were going through the middle of Soho) to wriggle into this Maje number for Versus Versace’s debut London show and after party followed by the brilliant Nicholas Kirkwood’s 10th anniversary celebrations. I’m about to be cheesy yet a-bloody-gain but reminiscing fondly on that whole 24 hours really makes me feel incredibly lucky and happy. It’s all thanks to you guys, so thank you… Ok, cheese over.

You guys know I’m rather fond of Kate Spade NY, right? Not sure if I’ve mentioned it, after all getting over excited about certain brands and repeating that excitement a million times is certainly something I never, ever do… nor is making terrible jokes, clearly.  Ok enough “humour” from me. How goddamn great is this outfit!? Plaid on plaid on plaid, I’m obsessed. You can’t have enough of a good thing right? Of course not!

One of my favourite things about clothes and makeup is their magical ability to transform your look and entire persona. Personally, I particularly enjoy a dramatic swap from super preppy get up to a vampy vixenish ensemble. So that’s precisely what I did before the Temperley London show.

Wearing Temperley London dress & blazer with Sergio Rossi boots… accessorised with a Maserati Quattroporte

I cannot actually get over how much I love this outfit. Don’t you find that there are some clothes that just fit perfectly and make you feel confident, invincible and generally awesome? I’m a pretty confident person on the whole – and if I don’t feel it I definitely fake it – but the cameras everywhere environment of fashion week combined with the constant need to be “on” as in sociable, sharp, smart and constantly thinking of the slickest way to get to your next engagement while planning/panicking over the work you have on does sometimes make me feel a bit rubbish. On day 2 I found that Lace Up OTK boots plus a Temperley frock that combines hotness and prettiness perfectly are the ultimate way to deal with that and feel like you can take on anything. Having a Maserati Quattroporte to pose against most certainly didn’t hurt either.

Try as I might, I just can’t kick the habit of dressing like a cartoon character. Tbf I don’t actually try very hard, or at all, because knee high socks, berets and excessive colour coordination are just too much fun. This outfit, as you probably clocked, involves a fair bit of Kate Spade NY. On that subject, stay tuned mes amies because I am going to be inviting you ALL to something awesome involving said fave label very, very soon… Oui, watch this space. Sadly this was basically my last LFW SS16 outfit as I was both very unwell and shooting on the final day.

KSNY Burberry

That said, I did manage to slip into the below little number for the Erdem, Louis Vuitton and Business of Fashion soirée. I’m utterly obsessed with it as it combines my all time fave Whistles blouse with my new fave Alice + Olivia skirt and the most badass boots possibly ever from Sergio Rossi. It hurt me a lot to give those bad boys back, as I’m sure you can imagine! Reckon I should bite the bullet and buy some? Severely tempted… help!

Ps) I will ask again in my next and final LFW SS16 post about my favourite shows but what do you think of this way of doing my fashion week coverage? It’s born out of necessity (laptop-gate… in case I didn’t make that painful clear enough already lol) this season but if you prefer it to my usual lengthy tales I could do it again, but better, in February.
