I don’t need any excuse to whip out a girly, blush hued ensemble involving piped satin, cream lace and Mary-Janes but if I did, a soirée hosted by Alice Temperley at her Westbourne Grove boutique would be it. I only acquired this divine Club Monaco top back in August but I’ve already worn it more times than I can count. It’s one of those genius pieces that works for every occasion from a Belstaff party attended by Anna Wintour to an evening down the pub. It also looks good without not causing physical pain to the wearer, always a plus when it comes to clothing. The Nicholas Kirkwood for Erdem shoes on the other hand, dreamy though they may be, are an absolute b*tch to do anything in. Standing, walking, whatever, I almost pity the poor models who had to wear them on the Erdem catwalk but then, they only had to grin and bear the discomfort for a few minutes. The problem is, they’re so darned pretty I can’t bear to leave them unworn or worse, get rid of them. Motto of this story? Beware splurging at a sample sale without taking a lap of the room in your prospective purchase. Or just be prepared for some tender tootsies.
Love Ella. X
