What: Bag & Shirt: Whistles, Skirt: Urban Outfitter, Boots: Hobbs
This outfit was quite an exciting moment for me. It was the first time I had taken my favourite Christmas present – Whistles’ “Ella Box Bag” which I like to think was named after me but let’s face it, probably wasn’t – out for a night on the town. It was also my first EVER successful attempt at outfit customisation. Ok, so I may have just taken a discarded black ribbon and fashioned it into a bowtie but given that my past attempts at DIY have consisted of two disastrous attempts to turn old jeans into shorts, I’m pretty proud of it. At least this time my efforts didn’t end in massacred denim and a trip to the nearest minor injuries unit. Unfortunately the combination of creating my homemade neck accessory (neckccessory?) and spending a good half hour struggling with the adorable but ever-so-slightly impractical clasp on my bag resulted in our leaving the house over an hour behind schedule. The evening’s event was a birthday celebration for Violane Bernard, the ultra chic French fashion Editor of Velour Magazine, at Shoreditch House so luckily for us fashionable lateness was expected. All in all the DIY bowtie seemed to go down a treat and I’d say definitely do try this one at home.
Love Ella. X

Ribbon bow ties are the best DIY ever! Although I went to work wearing a white shirt, ribbon bow tie and black rayban glasses and I got called Colonel Sanders for the whole day… Oh fashion!
But your outfit is lovely!
