What: Eye print skirt by Kenzo, Jumper by French Connection, Shirt by Gap, Boots by Rag & Bone & Bag by 3.1 Phillip Lim (both c/o)
Where: i-D Digital Relaunch party, Shoreditch
Ok, so I know I leapt on the Kenzo bandwagon a little late in the day but I’m sure you’ll agree, what I lacked in timeliness I more than make up for in enthusiasm. The absolute bloody genius of Carol Lim and Humberto Leon really does know no bounds. They manage to concoct playful, irreverent clothes that appeal to everyone from hipster types and streetwear lovers to Peter Pan collar aficionados like myself. Their collections, and I’m talking Opening Ceremony here too, are a mind bogglingly fantastic combination of flawless craftsmanship and tongue-in-cheek chic. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I like my fash with a healthy dose of fun so naturally gravitate towards brands like Markus Lupfer, Kate Spade and of course, Kenzo. Now what, I ask you, could possibly be more fun than a crazy, cartoon eye print in varying shades of purple? That was pretty much what was going through my mind when I impulse bought this bad boy while browsing Matches instead of working on my thesis. I’d been waiting for a suitably awesome occasion for it’s first outing and i-D’s Digital Relaunch party provided the perfect opportunity. Naturally I had to take things to the next level with a sequinned eye motif jumper and a luminous pink handbag because, well, why wouldn’t you?!
Love Ella. X
