What: Jacket, Jumper & Jeans by Forever 21, Boots by Massimo Dutti.

Where: London in Autumn.

Remember when Forever 21 challenged me to style up a party look way back in the dank depths of February? Well they hit me up again this season to do my darnedest with their Autumn – or “Fall” as my American friends would say – 2013 collection. I’m going to level with you, choosing two outfits from a shop with quite as much stuff in it as their Oxford Street flagship nearly blew my tiny mind. For all my supposed “styling” nous I struggle when confronted by vast quantities of choice, hence why I’m both lethal and useless in department stores. With a will of steel I managed to restrain myself from grabbing everything sparkly, patterned or very very brightly coloured and am pretty pleased with the resulting autumnal casualness. You all know how I feel about coloured jeans… I LOVE them! In a climate like London’s they’re perfect for putting a seasonal spin on weather appropriate ensembles. In Spring I battle the drizzle in pastel hued pants. When it’s bizarrely, unpleasantly warm and muggy in October like it was last week, rich burgundy skinnies keeps things OTM. You can’t go far wrong with a cosy knit and I particularly enjoy this wrong-yet-oh-so-right mustard hue. The jacket was my idea of taking a walk on the wild side. Woven, ikat-inspired fabrics are not exactly my forté but combined with the biker jacket they’re just the right side of slick.

What do you think?

Love Ella. X

  2. I love love the moto jacket with woollen sleeves. It gives a nice layered effect, especially if you don’t want to wear layers but create an illusion. Rocking those boots Ella.
