Look Du Jour… Leather n’ Lace

Don’t let the title of this post confuse you. I’m not about to subject you to a fancy dress party ensemble (Leather and Lace, great theme don’t you think?). Nor have I suddenly come over all edgy and looted Bitching and Junkfood for plunging lace bodies and studded leather hotpants. As much as I admire those oh-so-trendy girls who can rock the “glunge” look (glam meets grunge, obviously), the idea of me sporting ripped fishnets and DocMartens is more than a little comical. Unsurprisingly my take on Leather n’ Lace erred of the demure sie of things and no doubt confirmed my boyfriend’s suspicions that I shop with the sole intention of replicating his Grandmother’s wardrobe.

I came across this adorable lace top the other week in, you guessed it, Whistles and decided it would be a perfect 20th birthday present from me to me. It therefore seemed fitting to wear it to the second installment of my birthday celebrations, dinner with my closest friends and family at Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill. I’m a firm believer in dragging out birthdays for as long as is humanly possible and really pushed the boat out with this years festivities. I kicked things off with cocktails back in June and am finally bidding adieu to my teenage years with a huge country party next month. Excessive? Possibly but hey, if you can’t be a diva on your birthday then when can you?
