However I put this it’s going to sound ditzy, but can you actually believe it’s July already? It feels like only yesterday I was recovering from february Fashion Week and dreaming of the oh-so-distant summer. Now that it’s finally warm enough (well, almost) to wear the oversized sunhats and chiffon maxi skirts we purchased back in March, it’s almost time to start digging out our chunky knits and gearing up for the new season. With runway edits to ogle and pre collections to shop I’m hardly complaining, but given that most of us haven’t even been on holiday yet let’s not wave goodbye to the summer months too soon. In a couple of weeks I’m off to Paris with my best pals for a week of fine wine, delicious food and of course plenty of shopping. The european fashion capital is both the birthplace of La Petite Anglaise and (with the exception of London) my favourite city in the world, so as you can imagine I’m pretty excited. When it comes to effortless chic no one nails it quite like the Parisians so I decided to put my wardrobe through it’s paces in preparation for what I hope will be a very stylish seven days.

Cliched though it may be, there are few things more elegant and obviously french-inspired (except possibly a baguette or a string of garlic) than a classic Breton striped t-shirt. I paired it with my latest Whistles purchase (I have a PROBLEM!), these tailored camel shorts. My long-suffering boyfriend is a fairly tolerant guy but one look at these babies left him speechless with rage and disgust. Still, I always think that the more manrepelling a garment, the chicer it must be! Last but certainly not least I accessorised my faux-Parisian ensemble with an exquisite silk scarf by up-and-coming designer, Dominique Mosley, a colour-pop clutch and simple nude heels. Parfait, non?
