Amid the fashion month madness I’m thrilled to take a mini hiatus and share me and Menswear Style Editor, Craig Landale’s latest little collaboration with you. Actually, it’s not so little. If you take into account the fact that it’s carefully timed to coincide with the launch of the new and frankly gobsmacking Belstaff global flagship store on our very own Bond Street, the whole thing’s really rather exciting. Most excitingly of all, Craig and I got to take our pick of their luxe leathers to style our own mini editorial. Despite it being 27 degrees on the day (leather trousers in that kind of weather… well, you can imagine) it was a lot of fun and an absolute dream to wear such impossibly good quality garments. It also seemed fitting to celebrate the launch of a quintessentially British heritage brand’s latest venture on the soil that spawned it with a London location shoot by two very British bloggers, all that was missing was the cucumber sandwiches. In retrospect, that might have been a fun post-shoot treat although only after getting out of those leathers.
Back in February I battled the blizzard to attend Belstaff’s AW13 presentation in New York. As one would expect from a brand renowned for creating the world’s best biker gear, their execution of utility luxe was sublime in a way that was both beautifully stylish and, with the exception of the micro minis, practical. I took a very long time to choose my ensemble and tempted though I was by their legendary Trialmaster jacket, I was determined to go down the leather trouser x knee high boots route and thought the Surrey coat made for a better colour contrast. Plus it’s a peacoat hybrid in thick camel wool and in my opinion, outerwear doesn’t come much chicer.
In just a few days I’ll be bringing you un petit guided tour of the fabulous Belstaff store but for now, what do you think of me and Craig’s shoot? See more of his pics here.
Love Ella. X
