I’m very excited indeed to share this special edition LPA Styles It with you! As you no doubt gathered from the title, I wasn’t the only one getting my style on this time around. In what now seems like aeons ago but was actually early July, Menswear Style Founder, Craig Landale and I were both shortlisted for Fashion Blogger of the Year in the Fashion Monitor Journalism Awards. On the night, we were both trumped by a certain Susannah Lau but after agreeing that the legendary Susie Bubble was a pretty worthy opponent to lose to, over a conciliatory glass of champagne we hatched a plan. The plan was simple, team up with a couple of our mutual fave brands to style and shoot their new season goodies. Well, as plots and schemes go this has certainly been a fun one. After weeks of email exchanges, lookbook ogling and in store appointments I’m delighted to show you the fruits of our labour featuring Craig and my AW13 picks from the one and only Ted Baker… Enjoy!

The second I walked in to Ted Baker’s awesome Floral Street store (if you haven’t been you really must, they have lights made from vintage trumpets) and clapped eyes on this camel cape I knew I had to grab it. Impractical though the undeniably are – if it’s chilly enough for wool, it’s generally chilly enough for sleeves – capes are really are just the most elegant form of outerwear. Plus you can totally layer thermals under your peek-a-boo cashmere… Or just suck it up and deal with goosebumps like a committed fashionista. The next garment to capture my affections was the oxblood leather panelled pencil skirt. Between it’s luscious hue, luxe leather inserts and slinky silhouette it’s a total three-trends-in-one situation which, if you follow my logic, is a money saver in the long run. And let’s not forget the accessories; ponyhair leopard print ankle booties and matching handbag, in other words, the dream. In case you hadn’t realised by now (hashtag unlikely) I really, really love this outfit. It’s just the thing for chic city lunch dates and generally mincing around town in Autumn.
Cocktail Colour Blocking
Fact: Ted Baker know how to do cocktail attire. From second skin confections to bedazzled, floor sweeping numbers, they’ve got it covered. Personally I’m not big on body con and at 5’6″ (on a very good day) equally disinclined to go anywhere near a maxi dress. This colour blocked shift however, is my idea of happy hour perfection. Demure without being boring, bright without being an eyesore, it’s practically designed for those smart-dinner-that-ends-up-at-a-nightclub kind of evenings. And you what a sucker I am for matchy matchy accessories so the whole stripe, heels, ponyhair (yes more!) clutch combo is simply irresistible for me. The effect kind of reminds me of a tequila sunrise, don’t you think? Party season isn’t a million miles away ladies, it’s time to start prepping.
Love Ella. X
