I’ve always thought that designer x High Street collaborations are a bit like cocktails. There’s nothing worse than a bad one but when they’re good, they’re simply divine. Milly for Banana Republic falls firmly is most definitely the latter. If you’ve read my New York Fashion Week reports then you’ll know all too well how I feel about Milly by Michelle Smith but for those who haven’t, I’m a BIG fan. Feminine, fun and flirty but never, ever tacky, Michelle is a designer who delivers exactly what her fans want season after season. So when the All American purveyor of good quality, chic yet reasonably priced staples enlisted the talents of New York’s cocktail dress queen the results were unsurprisingly excellent. If you liked Trina Turk’s collection for Banana Republic last summer, then you’ll absolutely love this one.
Vibrant prints and eye-popping hues combined with classic tailoring and organic fabrics make for a collection that could take you from the streets of Manhattan to the beaches of The Hamptons and back again. So far I’ve welcomed a pair of the super chic shorts to my wardrobe and may well be adding a couple more. Like any fab collab, I suspect this one will sell out in seconds so I’d recommend getting yourself to Banana Republic ASAP if you want to get your hands on it.
Love Ella. X
