So after months and months of wishing, waiting, and outfit planning I finally headed to the Big Apple on Tuesday for New York Fashion Week! Last September’s trip with GANT gave me a taste for the action and this time around, I’m here for the whole shebang. Having foolishly decide to move house just 2 days earlier, by the time me and my extremely overweight baggage arrived I was pretty exhausted but after a days exploring (read: ransacking J.Crew, getting extremely lost and drinking my own bodyweight’s worth of Starbucks iced lattes) I was ready and raring to hit the shows.

New York Fashion Week day 1 got off to a fairly frantic start after a cocktail bar incident the previous night, evidently jet lag and Cosmopolitans don’t mix but frankly, I couldn’t resist. Unable to find a cab I braved the subway, arriving at Lincoln Centre sweaty, stressed and extremely late. Of course my panic was entirely unecessary it’s widely accepted fashion shows never, EVER start less than half an hour after their scheduled time so I took my seat in good time to see the latest creations from Nicholas K.
At not-so-long last, FASHION WEEK is upon us! I’m writing this post from New York where I’ll admit, I’m feeling an unattractive combination of smug and sweaty. But of course, while my little world has temporarily moved stateside, there are still an awful lot of exciting things happening back in Blighty. One of said happy occurences is the fact that cooler-than-cool London label, Sister by Sibling have decided to release a limited edition tee.
Oh how I love stuff. Especially stuff of the ultra elegant, one-of-a-kind variety. So when I caught wind of Finlay & Co, a London based brand famed for creating the most beautiful, handmade wooden sunglasses I just had to take a closer look. The 50′s inspired designs ethically produced by Finlay & Co are the antithesis of mass-produced, throw-away styles. Each pair is unique, individual in its’ own grain and finish… So no chance of finding yourself rocking the same shades as half of Oxford Street!
I love London for many reasons. The people, the food, the parks, the museums, the plentiful public transport… Not least, I adore London because of its’ fabulous shopping facilities. Whatever your budget, size or sartorial preferences, there will be somewhere that stocks a cure for what ails you. The latest addition to my beloved hometown’s endless array of boutiques is cooler-than-cool Kingly Street destination, OTHER.
I can’t help but feel it’s going to be a fabulous autumn. Especially thanks to this latest snippet of sartorial news which sees three of my all time favourite things – fashion exhibitions, Valentino and Somerset House – come together for a three month celebration of one of the world’s leading couturiers.
