Oh to be the kind of person who’s lifestyle demands Temperley resort attire! One of my favourite parts of reviewing the collections each season is imagining which looks I’d buy (in a fantasy dream world, obv) and the different places I’d wear them. In said fashion fantasy, I’d skip through the streets of Paris in Carven and hit up Miami in Nanette Lepore. Glam it up at New York society galas in Gucci and party all night in Peter Pilotto. Looking at Temperley’s resort collection, I see myself somewhere like Cannes or Monaco. I mean, where else could provide a suitable setting for those hats than the Cote d’Azur?
Glamour can so often verge on tacky but Alice Temperley has kept things strictly sophisticated with figure-skimming cuts and luxurious drapery. Think Grace Kelly elegance by way of soft nude hues juxtaposed with luscious jewel tones and subtle monochrome looks. Classic silhouettes and demure hemlines are kept fresh with delicate lace overlays, sheer paneling and exquisite applique detailing. There’s no doubt about it, Temperley’s Resort 2013 collection is well and truly the kind of old school, feminine gorgeousness that makes my heart beat faster. I genuinely don’t think I can pick a favourite look but could definitely imagine sipping Cosmopolitans at the Hotel du Cap in that shimmering, blush number… Delusional, moi?
