Johnnie Walker Whisky Launches Gold Label Reserve

You’ve got to hand it to whoever organised the Johnnie Walker Whisky bash, they’ve got a sense of humour. I mean, holding the Gold Label Reserve launch party at London’s Whisky Mist, that’s rather amusing. Even if the party had been rubbish I still would have enjoyed LOL-ing at the choice of venue, but luckily – or perhaps unluckily, given how I felt the next morning – that wasn’t the case. In honour of the brand’s new ‘Gold’ label, the club had been transformed into a bling-lovers paradise with gold drapery adorning everything from the bar to the DJ booth where, fittingly, Drum n’ Base legend Goldie was on the decks. Naturally there were a number of suitably glittering names in attendence including Mischa Barton, Henry Holland, Tolula Adeyemi, Jade Williams and Zara Martin who – possibly as a result of the lethally strong whisky cocktails on tap – let loose on the dance floor until the wee hours.

Swarovski Celebrates ‘Iconic London’ Launch

When it’s too cold and rainy to wear pop-socks and pastels in JULY, it’s often extremely tempting to curl up and watch 90210 re-runs until either the sun comes out or it’s an appropriate time to start shopping for Autumn. This would have been the case on Monday, had it not been for the fine folk at Swarovski and Wonderland Magazine who enticed us away from our sofas and into the muggy heart of Central London. And it wasn’t even the promise of unlimited champagne that sealed the deal, although I’m not going to lie, that didn’t hurt. No, we dusted off our party shoes on Monday not (completely) to head out in search of scrumptious canapes and free booze but to get a first look at Swarovski’s ‘Iconic London’ campagin, featuring the illustrative talents of Good Wives and Warriors.

The project will see Swarovski’s Regents Street flagship store undergo a live transformation as the hotter-than-hot artistic duo take over the windows, initially turning them into a enchanted forest before creating a kaleidescopic, dreamlike world inspired by… you’ve guessed it, London. For those of you who can’t face Regent’s Street during the Olympics (and I can’t say I blame you) the installations will also be appearing in every other Swarovski store in London. Plus, social media users can even submit their ideas, with a lucky few being incorporated into Good Wives and Warriors’ illustrations! Seeing as spectacle and social media are two of my favourite things, it’s not surprising I was excited about the launch party. Indeed, Swarovski and Wonderland Mag didn’t disappoint. In between admiring the aritsts at work – as someone who can’t draw as much as an apple, illustrators always amaze me – my fellow guests, including N Dubz’ Fazer and the Londsdale Boys Club, and I got stuck into the cocktails and a little entertainment from Dj Cozette McCreery.

La Petite Party Diaries: Aston Martin Launches ‘The Vanquish’

As mentioned a couple of posts back, last Wednesday I had a bit of a modern day Cinderella moment when I got the chance to take a catwalk fresh Felder.Felder number out for a night on the town. The event in question was a lavish bash, hosted by Aston Martin to celebrate the release of their latest sports car, The Vanquish.

Now I’m not going to pretend to know much about cars (I usually judge them based on colour) but parties are somewhat my field of expertise and this was really rather fabulous. Held in the London Film Museum’s vast underground venue with several gleaming Vanquish’s proudly on display, it was certainly an evening of glamour. Aston Martin’s soiree may not have been your usual fash bash but there was plenty in the way of familiar faces with the likes of Tolula Adeyemi, Grace Woodward and Zara Martin dropping in for a glass of champagne. Other notable attendees included BELUAH London Founder, Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs, The Wire’s resident silver fox, Dominic West and Mischa Barton rocking a goddess worthy Temperley number. We drank, we mingled, we – ok, I – tried very hard to avoid any borrowed dress/spilled drink disasters. All in all, unlimited champagne + spectacular setting + Otis Ferry on the decks = a damn good party!

Scottish Fashion Awards 2012

Scottish Fashion Awards 2012

Yesterday’s post may have provided you with the basic info about who won what but it barely scratched the surface of the fabulous, five hour (not including afterparty) extravaganza that was the 2012 Scottish Fashion Awards. From the moment I boarded my flight to Glasgow on Monday morning to the moment I touched down back in London the next day, the whole thing was an indulgent, elegant and slightly surreal experience. After the aforementioned afternoon of pampering at the ultra plushy Blythswood Square Hotel we piled into our waiting fleet of Scottish Fashion Awards Mercedes and headed across town to the Crowne Plaza where the awards were being held. First up was a trip down the red carpet which I have to admit, I loved despite the fact that, understandably, none of the paps showed the slightest bit of interest in me. Then it was champagne time, courtesy of Moet & Chandon who, instead of the customary flutes, handed us all our own not-so-mini bottles to swig from. My earlier observation that the entire industry had decamped to Glagow for the occasion was further confirmed by the turnout at the drinks reception. In between trying (and failing) to resist the temptation to go for bottle number two I spent most of my time running around in a state of complete over excitement catching up with everyone.

Finally we were ushered into the auditorium for the awards to begin. From my second row seat (thank you Swarovski!) I had an incredible view of the stage, the winners and the gorgeous Alexa Chung who I have to say, put on one hell of a performance. But Alexa’s charm wasn’t the evening’s only entertainment and talented teenagers Dionne Bromfield and Tallia Storm both treated us to a song. Two hours, fifteen awards and one amusing incident involving a Eurovision Song Contest singer getting her Scottish cities mixed up later, the ceremony drew to a close and we made for the vast hall where the gala dinner was to be held. The next few hours passed in a happy and increasingly blurry blur of fine wine, delicious food and good company – I majorly lucked out seating wise – until booming, chart-tastic music announced that the afterparty had begun. We danced, we drank… we danced some more and with the wee hours fast approaching I piled into a car with designer Corrie Nielson and PR guru/high fiver extraordinaire Courtney Blackman and we headed back to Blythswood Square to continue the party in the hotel bar.

My night in Instagrams…

Scottish Fashion Awards 2012

As you can probably imagine, there were a few bleary eyes on the fashion plane at 7am this morning. Despite my best intentions I managed yet again to oversleep, neglect to put on makeup and once again found myself sitting behing David Gandy praying he wouldn’t turn round! Fatigue aside, I loved every second of my glamourous, whirlwind 24 hour trip to Glasgow and can’t wait to see what next year’s Scottish Fashion Awards have in store.

La Petite Party Diaries: House of Holland for Superga Launch

Henry Holland at House of Holland for Superga Launch

Given how party heavy the past month or so has been it feels a bit odd to have only attended one this week. Still I always feel it’s better to go to one great party than five average ones and this particular shindig was excellent. But as it was hosted by Superga that was kind of a given. In case you didn’t know, Superga is THE casual-cool footwear brand right now. Alexa Chung stars in their current campaign and the brand’s coiterie of famous fans includes everyone from Sienna Miller to Kristen Stewert. Well as of last week, Superga has yet anotherexciting accolade to add to it’s collection; a collaboration with House of Holland. The results are playful, quirky and frankly, adorable, ranging from polkadot flatforms to acid bright animal prints. Yep, it appears that Henry Holland and Superga are a match made in heaven and what better way to celebrate than with big fash bash? The invitation promised “good food, fine drinks, and bad dancing” and it delivered on all three counts. There were seared tuna canapes, Mahiki rum cocktails and Pina Coladas a’ plenty. At one point I spotted Henry Holland holding a cake, shaped like a giant Superga!
