Another Thursday, another round of parties. This one kicked off with the SUITCASE Magazine Pop Up shop launch tucked down Walton Street in Chelsea. SUITCASE is undeniably one of the coolest independent mags around right now, and I’m not just saying that because the Founder/Editor is my dear friend Serena. Travel and fashion have long been a match made in heaven and you only need glance at any major retailer from MATCHESFASHION.com and Net-a-Porter to Topshop and ASOS to know that the holidaywear market has exploded in recent seasons. SUITCASE combines breathtaking editorials, intelligent features and genuinely useful guidance to the coolest places to visit and what to do when you get there, all wrapped up in a sleek and stylish, coffee table worthy package. It’s glossy but still personal, and unlike any other publications around and the fact it’s run predominantly by a group of young women is very inspiring. The pop up shop is a chic, modern space stocking a tight edit from an eclectic mix of under-the-radar and more established purveyors of travel friendly pieces ranging from Anna Skladmann and Yolke to Marianna G Swimwear and Kara by Kara Ross. It’s open until June 8th and well worth a visit, click here for more info.

After locating a slightly sleep deprived Nik – he’d been up for several days straight shooting the Ada + Nik SS15 campaign film, it’s going the be seriously epic – it was time to make for party number two, conveniently located about 100 metres away on Brompton Road. Our destination? The Kooples flagship store where the brand was celebrating a collaboration with VOLT Magazine on their latest issue. I fell hard for The Kooples during my Paris internship all those years ago but could never afford a damn thing. When they finally arrived in London, opening up stores here, there and everywhere my affections for the label somewhat waned. I’m pleased to say that after last Thursday The Kooples is back on my lust list. Me and Nik were unfashionably early to the bash which afforded me the opportunity to ogle everything and had the tills been open my bank account would now be looking even more unhealthy than it already does.. Who knew Hawaiian prints and biker leathers could be quite such a covetable combination?
Want that print!
Me & Nik at The Kooples
Anyway, having established that I couldn’t shop, we set about procuring a few tasty and no doubt unbelievably unhealthy cocktails from a bartender shipped in from Mahiki for the night and lounging around on a sofa until a few more guests arrived. We didn’t have to wait long, within minutes plenty of familiar faces had pitched up and Becky Tong took to the decks. I was almost sad to leave but party number three was a’ calling.
Our final port of call on the evening’s party rounds was canal side Mexican restaurant, Shrimpy’s where Topshop was hosting a summer bash to toast the launch of their much anticipated collaboration with Ashish. The journey from South Ken to King’s Cross is a fair distance and by the time we’d harmonised loudly and badly to Wrecking Ball, taken multiple pictures of each other, parked and generally spent quite a long time fannying around it was gone 10pm by the time my and Nik arrived. Luckily, the party was still in full swing with drinks flowing, soft shell crab burgers being rustled up by the platterfull and achingly cool fashion folk as far as the eye could see. After stopping for a catch up with the ever jet setting Emmanuelle of Livincool’ - follow his Insta, seriously, dude is everywhere – I bumped into the lovely Pandora of The Debrief – a must read if ever there was one – and generally set about having a very good time.

Lily Allen, Ashish & Mary Charteris
Highlights included campaign star and all round hottie, Mary Charteris doing some incredibly athletic posing for the photographers in a badass fishnet dress, counting how many light up buffalo trainers I could spy until it made me dizzy (wasn’t the cocktails, promise) and eavesdropping on Lily Allen and Ashish’s BFF (who knew?) catch ups. The collection is cracking too, you can shop it here.
