Weekly Wish List, Milan Edition

There’s less than a month to go until New York fashion week begins and I’m already on to installment three of my fashion week themed wish lists, the Milan edition. As I mentioned before, every time I express my excitement about the impending celebrations of all things stylish via twitter it illicits a series of less than positive responses from my fashion friends. I’ll admit, now it’s time to really start thinking about ticket requests, scheduling and most importantly, wardrobe options, I’m starting to feel a little stressed out myself. This season I’ll be spending six days (and nights) in NYC before returning to cover the shows and parties back home in London. So overall, I’ll need to come up with a whopping 22 outfits. And not your run-of-the-mill combos either. We’re talking fashion forward, pap-worthy, jealousy inducing ensembles. But before I break out in hives over this most difficult of dilemmas, let’s take a moment to appreciate the new season offerings from our favourite Italian brands. Having blown my budget on New York flights, phone bills and a Prosecco fuelled Peter Pilotto shopping spree, I can’t quite fund a trip to Milan this season so if any fashion fairy Godmothers out there want to sweep me off my feet, now’s your moment!

Liberty Print High Tops Take 2

As you all know oh-so-well, I don’t do trainers. I don’t care if Isabel Marant made them and Gisele wore them. I don’t care if they’re leather, studded, Swarovski encrusted or made from solid gold, they’re just not my cup of tea. Or at least, they weren’t until Liberty London teamed up with Nike to create their sell-out floral confections. This sudden change of heart took many of my nearest and dearest by surprise and to some extent, I too wondered if I’d simply succumbed to the fact that wedge high tops were topping the wish lists of style setters worldwide. There’s also an arguement that if you covered anything in Liberty print I’d want it and after resisting the temptation to invest in Liberty and Nike’s first collaboration this Summer, I began to believe this to be the case. Well, now the match made in fashion heaven has returned for round 2 and I quite possibly love with their second batch even more. On paper, vintage look ditsy prints and sportswear are absolute style blasphemy but somehow I can’t help but feel these just work.

Liberty Print high tops

Liberty print high tops, fashion “do” or fashion “boo”, what do you reckon?

Ps) If you like ‘em and have cash to splash, they’re available for £95 online at Liberty.com but hop to it because they’re bound to sell out fast.

Weekly Wish List, London Edition

So with exactly one month and three days to go (yes I’m that sad, I’m counting down) until fashion week kicks of over in NYC were on to the second of my themed weekly wish lists, the London edition. It’s funny, although New York fashion week is undeniably a lot bigger than London, I found selecting just ten brands from my home town a lot more challenging than picking the same number from the zillions that show in the Big Apple. Maybe it’s because I know them better, I mean, after four seasons worth of ticket requests I pretty much know the LFW schedule by heart! But a little, patriotic part of me wonders if it’s because of the fact that London seems to produce exciting, innovative, fresh fashion talent better than anywhere else… Whatever the reason, I’d give my right arm for any of these sartorial delights, enjoy!

Weekly Wish List, New York Edition

August is just around the corner and we all know what that means… Fashion month is now just a few short weeks away! For a lot of industry folk, ‘fashion week’ can be something of a dirty word thanks to the sheer amount of stress it brings with it. Personally, I don’t think I’m ever going to get over the joy of being able to attend shows, parties and be a part of all the madness in between. Who knows, maybe in ten years time I’ll be bemoaning the sleep deprivation, high-heel induces injuries and champagne-induced hangovers that are as much a part of fashion week as the collections themselves but given how excited I feel just writing that, I doubt it. With just over a month to go, it’s high time to start planning our wardrobes. So to help, well, me along the way and generally get us all in the mood for four weeks of sartorial celebration I’ve decided to focus my next few wish lists on each of the four respective fashion cities. First up, New York…

La Petite Weekly Wish List, July 20th

Another week, another wish list… You’d think I’d get bored of looking at pretty clothes but yet, somehow I don’t. Bare legs + extreme rain makes for serious cashmere craving and I was just about ready to give up on Summer and make straight for the pre fall collections but then I heard a little rumour (ok, I looked at my iPhone weather app) that hot weather is set to hit London next week and all of a sudden, chunky knitwear didn’t seem so tempting.  Still, I’m not about to make the same mistake I’ve made at least ten times this season and start packing away my layers, instead here are a few choice pieces that can work with whatever the weather decides to throw at us.
