Ok, so this week’s wish list is probably more autumnal than you’d expect in July but frankly, I’ve given up on Summer. The endless array of flimsy, pastel things I started amassing way back in February are, for the most part, sitting unworn in my wardrobe while I skulk around in jeans and cardigans, avoiding venturing outside at all costs. Much as I adore London, I’m seriously starting to consider emigrating. I mean, what’s the point of living in a city full of parks, pubs and fabulous shops if it never stops bloody raining?!

Another week, another selection of sartorial delights I just can’t keep my eyes, hands and wallet off. Actually I’ve been pretty restrained of late, shopping wise. But this has been more due to lack of free time and funds rather than my developing any kind of real self control. It’s also that strange between-season period as the pre fall stock is starting to arrive in stores at exactly the same time Summer decides to arrive in London and while this season’s togs seem ever-so-slightly passé, the idea of going anywhere near a fair isle knit makes me want to cry. Well, luckily I managed to scrape together a few pieces so delectable they’re still worth splashing out on regardless of the weather, season or possibility of impending bankruptcy. Happy shopping!

Strictly speaking, I’m not a hardcore sales shopper. The idea of fighting tooth and nail for the last pastel blouse in Topshop only to discover that it’s the wrong size is not my idea of a fun Saturday morning. Plus, it’s pretty likely that the little something you found on the sale rale and picked up for a fiver will be unwearably dated in a few weeks time. But when it comes to buying bank breakingly expensive and most importantly, classic designer items, I worship at the altar of end-of-season price reductions. This is especially the case when it comes to the summer sales. In London we’re lucky to have had more than half an hour of sunshine by the time June arrives so there is still plenty of “summer” time left during which we can wear, or at least fantasise about wearing, broderie anglaise and skimpy sundresses. While you might be able to pick up a few investment pieces in January, most of the stock on sale isn’t all that attractive. I mean, do YOU fancy buying more knitwear after months and months of gloom!?

Ps) Just realised I went straight from 5 to 7, must have just been in too much of a hurry to finish this post and get shopping!

I can’t help but feel that the seasons are whizzing by unbelievably quickly. We’re barely a week in to June butalready my inbox is being bombarded with AW12 lookbooks and even the odd pre spring 2013 press release! I can’t quite make up my mind whether or not this excites or terrifies me. Obviously the prospect of new clothes to look at/lust after/purchase fills my fashion loving heart with joy. But then again, a large proportion of the carefully cultivated SS12 wardrobe I’ve been working on since February has yet to see the light of day and I’m not ready to start thinking about winter woolies again just yet. This year I’ve finally got my head around the point of pre collections and their pretty much my new favourite thing. Firstly there’s the obvious novelty of seeing something fresh after spending five months staring at the same pastel pieces. Also – and this is where living in England works to your advantage – garments designed to cope with tricky hot-then-cold-then-hot-again trans-seasonal weather are perfect for navigating the weather perils of the “great British summer”. Plus, who doesn’t love the idea of wearing next seasons pieces now? A failsafe way to feel chic, superior and cosy all in one.

LPA Loves… Chinti & Parker x Colette Paris

There are many things in life that I struggle to resist. Mulberry handbags, dry white wine, salmon sushi, anything involving Liberty print… The list goes on. Two of the things most likely to make me succumb to temptation are cashmere and Colette Paris. So when I heard that Chinti & Parker had teamed up with the Parisian mekkah of all things stylish to produce a capsule collection of chicer-than-chic cashmere sweaters I was excited and terrified in equal measure. On the one hand the results of this match-made-in-fashion-heaven are BEYOND adorable. I’m a sucker for kitsch detailing and between the polkadots, giant hearts and contrast elbow patches these babies have got it in spades. On the other hand, there’s no way in hell I’m going to be able to control my urge to splurge and once you’ve payed postage and packaging for one jumper you may as well buy all three! Bye bye bank balance…

The sweaters will be available online or at Colette Paris from mid June with prices ranging from £300 to £350. Better get saving…

Ps) Anyone who invests in a Chinti & Parker for Colette exclusive will be in very stylish company, Olivia Palermo was spotted wearing hers just this morning!
