LPA Loves… Liberty Print Nike High-tops

Liberty Print Nike High tops

I am about to utter the words no one EVER thought they’d hear me say… I’m currently lusting after a pair of trainers. Yep, that’s right, the style of footwear that combines the two things I loathe most in the world – comfort and practicality – has somehow wormed it’s way onto my wish list. I suspect this has more to do with my weakness for Liberty print anything than a desire to casual up my look, but the fond feelings I’m experiencing towards these particular trainers still confuse me. Maybe it’s my inner hipster finally emerging, or maybe I’ve just fallen over one too many times whilst wearing ridiculous heels. Either way, try as I might I can’t seem to resist the playful allure of the yellow style in particular. To sports luxe, or not to sports luxe… what do you think?

Regardless of the abominable weather, my winter coat has offically made it’s last appearence until at least October. Ok, so this is partially to do with closet space issues (evidently I’ve shopped a LOT this season) but mainly because I feel that wearing heavy tweed in May is just plain wrong. So come hell or, more likely, high water I will be rocking non stop pastels, florals and itsy bitsy jackets as of next week. Given the number of new season items sitting unworn in my wardrobe, not to mention the state of my bank balance, I should really try to avoid temptation… But how could I bring you my wish list this week?!

LPA Loves… J.Crew

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m an absolute sucker for all things preppy. Polo shirts, tennis skirts, tassled loafers, head bands… You name it, if Blair Waldorf wore it then it’s quite alright by me. So it will probably come as no surprise that I adore J.Crew. You see, despite being a London girl through and through, I think there’s something about the clean cut, country club style sported by Connecticut WASP’s and Park Avenue Princesses that I just can’t get enough of… And provided you don’t get completely carried away (monogrammed beach towels are a step too far methinks)  it’s pretty darned chic.

Since way back in 1983, J.Crew has been the go-to brand for comfortable, good quality and affordable (AKA unfashionable) preppy gear. Then in 2007, something rather magical happened when the ultimate all American label came under the creative direction of a certain Jenna Lyons. In 5 short years the Brooklyn based glamazon’s dynamite combination of design talent and marketing savvy has turned the brand into one of the most in-demand around and following the recent launch of their global shipping online store, that reach will only extend further. Whilst it retains it’s trademark preppy polish (and reasonable prices), nowadays J.Crew is just as likely to be spotted on the front row at fashion week as it is in Midwestern shopping malls. Think classic elegance with a contemporary twist in luxe fabrics and a perfect mix of neutral shades, eye popping brights and power prints.

Personally I’ve got my eye on their striped, sequinned number… Which J.Crew look would you pick?

Another week, another wish list… I can’t help but feel that anyone who claims that happiness is not to be found in material things must have been shopping in the wrong places. Having spent most of the past week ogling the AW12 collections it feels a bit bizarre to come back to the current season. Still, given that we haven’t actually had Summer yet, I’m nowhere near “over” pastels, florals and broderie anglaise. With my student loan (AKA mid-season shopping fund) arriving any day now I’m currently torn between Jaeger’s lemon yellow sundress and DVF’s mini Harper bag… Which one would you pick?

After a two week hiatus La Petite weekly wish list is back with a vengeance. At the moment I can’t decide whether I prefer pastels or brights so have decided just to go for both of them. For the next few weeks I’d advise anyone with a penchant for minimalism (or a hangover) to avoid looking my way as I’ll be decked out head-to-toe in kaleidescopic hues. After all, there’s nothing like a shock of fuscia to herald the official arrival of *ahem* “British summer time”. On another note I, along with every other blogger, editor and journalist in town, have spent the week checking out what we’ll be wearing in six months time at the AW12 press days. Whilst I wont go into detail right now, anyone who has been following my tweets or tumbles will know that Peter pan collars are not only très a la mode for SS12 but they’ll be sticking around next season too, a fact you can imagine I’m extremely happy about.
