Vestiaire Collective Charity Sale Picks

I’m sure you’re all familiar with Vestiaire Collective. Maybe you saw my previous posts on the company or, more likely, you’re one of the millions of fashion fanatics who stalk their designer booty. With pre-owned sartorial delights by every covetable designer brand under the sun added every day, it’s basically a one stop shop for all things chic albeit potentially lethal for the old bank balance. Well, if you needed any excuse to splurge on that x then I have excellent news for you. This week Vestiaire Collective are running a charity sale, the genius of which is manifold. The stylish likes of Jade Parfitt, Rachel Weisz, Jessie J, Jodie Kidd and Gemma Arterton have also donated party perfect pieces with the profits from each going to their charities of choice which include Cancer Research and NSPCC. This is coinciding with the launch of Vestiaire’s Party Wear category so you, I and anyone else can stock up on cocktail frocks previously owned by some of the world’s most stylish women and raise money for truly worthy causes all in the click of a mouse. In celebration of the whole fabulous thing, I’ve picked out a few of my favourite pieces. Credit cards at the ready people…

Introducing: Monthly Must Haves

After what seems like an absolute lifetime since my last weekly wish list I’m very happy to announce that I will once again be scouring the net for sartorial gems to tempt us both with! But, as you might have gathered from the title of this post, it won’t be a weekly thing. This isn’t due to any lack of covetable clothing. Hell, I could probably make a daily wish list and I suspect it’s this sheer abundance of stuff I want that means it takes literally hours for me to narrow it down to a top ten. With final year of uni pressure on and less time for browsing (sob!) I’ve decided to swap my Weekly Wish Lists for Monthly Must Haves but don’t worry, these picks will be extra awesome, just you wait…

AW13 Handbag Hot List

It’s no secret that I love handbags. That might sound a bit #obvi because frankly everyone loves handbags. Anyone who claims they don’t is a great, big, no doubt poorly accessorized liar. But I suspect my obsession with those fabulous contraptions designed (in theory) for carrying stuff goes above and beyond what could be considered normal or healthy. As someone who once spent an entire term’s student loan on a Mulberry Tillie tote and frequently travels with a whole separate suitcase just for bags, I feel or at least hope that I know a good one when I see it. And boy, are there some good ones this season…

AW13 handbag

Chloé  Baylee Medium Leather Two Tone Tote, £1325, click here to buy

As I’m sure you’re all very well aware, Chloé pretty much invented the “it bag” concept back in 2006 with their iconic Paddington. Since then the French purveyor of all things ridiculously chic has continued the deliver handbags so lustworthy they make your head spin but this season, they’re truly reclaiming their “it” status with what is being hailed as THE handbag of AW13, the Baylee. Having seen and stroked a few of these babies when I visited Chloé’s London HQ for the Resort 2013 press day I can confirm that they definitely live up to the hype. Buttersoft leather, sparingly applied subtle gold hardware, contrast colour straps and roomy enough to actually fit your laptop, makeup and a magazine or three, Chloe’s Baylee is the “it” bag re-imagined for the 2013 woman and I seriously want one.

AW13 handbag

3.1 Phillip Lim Leather & Ponyhair Mini Pashli Satchel, £855, click here to buy

Ok, so this might be the fourth time I’ve featured 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Leather and Ponyhair Pashli in as many months but I’m just so completely and utterly in love with it. As I may have mentioned once or twice or thrice, Phillip Lim’s AW13 collection epitomised the girl a part of me wants to be. The leathers, the ever-so-slightly off colours, the sheer haute badassness (totally a word, starting now) of it all… I remember emerging from his show into the frigid february air during New York Fashion Week last season in a state of absolute awe that anything could be that, for want of a better word, cool. Whether I ever manage to recreate the biker’s moll vibe remains to be seen but owning this objet d’amour would certainly be a step in the right direction.

AW13 handbag

Mulberry Primrose in Bright Red Haircalf, £2,500, click here to buy

It would be impossible to compile a list of the season’s hottest handbags without mentioning Mulberry! There are at least six styles from their AW13 collection I’m currently coveting and could more than happily include in this post but in the interest of not turning this into one giant Mulberry ad I’ve opted for the Primrose. Structured shape (no risk of the dreaded “bag sag” here), punchy hue, adorable top handle detailing; Mulberry’s Primrose ticks every must-have-bag box and don’t even get me started on the delectable calf hair situation!

AW13 handbag

Burberry The Big Crush in Heart Print Calfskin, £1,500, click here to buy

Heart print calfskin, HEART PRINT CALFSKIN!! Burberry, what are you trying to do to me!? Super luxe and a little bit cheeky, much like the rest of Christopher Bailey’s incredible and aptly named “Trench Kisses” collection. I must confess, the arrival of these stunners in the Brit brand’s flagship store has rendered me incapable of walking up Regents Street without stopping to stare at them longingly. This, my friends, is not a handbag. This is an object of sheer, unadulterated lust.

AW13 handbag

Louis Vuitton Alma PM, £1,070, click here to buy

Much like every other season ever, Louis Vuitton have concocted an array of truly awesome arm candy for AW13. I ummmed and ahhhed a lot over whether to pick the super practical yet oh-so-chic Neverfull tote as my fave but in the end, the Louis Vuitton bag I most want need in my wardrobe is the Alma PM. Ladylike shape in a succulent shade of greeny blue (the technical term) it would make any ensemble look instantly immaculate. It’s also slightly bigger than the Alma BB (as seen in my SS13 handbag hot list) making it a truly practical cost-per-wear investment. That said, I wouldn’t say no to a Neverfull too.

AW13 handbag

Miu Miu Buggatti Textured Leather Tote, £1,100, click here to buy

On paper a mustard yellow bowling bag sounds dubious. Under the sartorial supervision of Miuccia Prada it’s nothing short of genius. If Phillip Lim appeals to the downtown cool girl vibe I occasionally attempt and generally fail to channel, Miu Miu is the stuff of my absolute Park Avenue Princess fantasies. Admittedly this little number is less sugar sweet than their pastel pink counterparts but it still bears a pulled together, girly girl polish that leaves me weak at the knees. Would look darling with knee high socks too, major bonus.

AW13 handbag

Marni Trunk Shoulder Bags, small £790, large £880 – available at www.marni.com from November

From one female fashion visionary to another, the quirky chic creations of Marni Creative Director, Consuelo Castiglioni never fails to set my heart a flutter. Case in point, the Trunk bag. This boxy bag treads the fine line between prepster and hipster, bypasses both and ends up somewhere infinitely more stylish. Exquisitely autumnal hues in super glossy leather with the added practicality of a shoulder strap, these babies are the perfect fusion of on-trend and investment. Plus they’re not available until November so you/I have time to start saving!

AW13 handbag

MICHAEL Michael Kors Selma Satchel, £315, click here to buy

If you’ve so much as glanced at my outfit posts or Instagram feed this Summer then you’ll know how how enamoured I’ve been with my apple green MICHAEL Michael Kors Selma tote. Since I got it way back in May not a week has gone by without me whipping it out at least once. It’s chic, it’s sleek and it fits just about everything you could feasibly need to carry without ever suffering “bag sag” (my pet peeve, in case you hadn’t guessed). Now in typical fashion style, Michael Kors has gone and unleashed a whole new batch of Selma’s in autumn friendly hues and frankly, I need this one.

AW13 handbag

McQueen Bi-Colour Medium Leather Heroine, £1,545, click here to buy

So it looks like two tone handbags are big news for AW13! The McQueen Heroine has been spotted on just about every stylish celeb’s arm and their new season styles are simply divine. Black and red a mega on trend colour combination this season but those that dare to don it run the risk of looking like Dennis the Menace. Sporting the look on by way of your bag eliminates all that, think about it.

AW13 handbag

Anya Hindmarch Maxi Zip Cross Body Mag, £505, click here to buy

Two tone and green AKA my fave colour ever?! Anya Hindmarch, this bag is almost too much! Bond Street’s reigning Queen of Bags has well and truly outdone herself this season with a collection of accessories inspired by childhood board games that reduce me to the proverbial kid in a candy store. Tongue-in-cheek yet oh-so-chic, I want all of it.

LPA Loves: McQ Swallow Sweatshirt

My latest Look Du Jour has officially sent me new season cray. Much as I love not having to wear six layers while squelching around in the pissing rain, I’ve kind of had enough of Summer clothes now. To be honest all I really want is a couple of crisp days to wear my beloved McQ Pre Fall swallow sweatshirt, then it can get nice and hot again… Is that seriously too much to ask?

McQ Swallow Sweatshirt

McQ Alexander McQueen Swallow Sweatshirt, £205, click here to buy

I don’t need to tell you that sweatshirts have been the “it” thing for some time now. Evidently this is no flash in the pan fad and AW13 has brought a whole new array of low key luxe lovelies to lounge in. So if you bought into the trend last season, well done for investing wisely. If, like me, you didn’t then hop to it and snap up some high fash jersey. McQ’s swallow print number has made the transition from wish list to wardrobe but as everyone knows, you can never have too much of a good thing so here are a few more stylish sweatshirts I’m eyeing up for autumn…
