Weekly Wish List: Whistles Party Dresses

As you’ve probably gathered from the title, this week’s wish list is ALL about dresses. Namely party dresses from the fountain of all things covetable that is Whistles. When I first started blogging, I had absolutely no idea about anything. PR companies, press days, fashion week ticket requests, media groups, html code, affiliate networks, servers, social media… You name it, I was clueless. Aside from documenting my outfits and Parisian adventures, I really just starting writing about stuff I liked. Naturally a lot of that “stuff” came from Whistles so I was unbelievably delighted when the brand began to respond to my incessant posts and tweets. Three years things are a little different and I like to think I’m not quite such a novice. As my understanding of how the fashion biz works has grown, my already bordering on unhealthy obsession with Whistles has too. Their latest array of evening ensembles is  just so goddamn gorgeous I decided it deserved it’s own wish list. One thing I’ve always particularly loved about Whistles is the fact that the collections cater to a huge range of personal styles and ages. I thought their SS13 dresses illustrated this point very well, so here we have four frocks styled to suit four different tastes…

Weekly Wish List: The J.Crew Edition

Every season when I come back from New York Fashion Week, I inevitably get asked which collections were my favourite. I’m not ashamed to admit that J.Crew always features pretty highly. While you can’t honestly claim that Jenna Lyons’ preppy-with-a-twist creations are up there with Alexander Wang in terms of design innovation, the all American retail giant’s playful prints and eye-popping separates are among the garments I most want to rip off the models and keep for myself. As you can probably imagine, I’m supremely, embarrassingly over excited about the opening of J.Crew’s first London store. Originally rumoured to be arriving in May, J Day – as I’ve decided to dub it – has now been postponed until autumn (click here to preview what new season goodies they’ll be selling) but luckily the label beloved of Mrs Obama and Caroline Issa alike had decided to appease us Brits by opening a pop-up shop later this month. However, patience isn’t something I’m big on so instead of waiting a whole fortnight, I decided to compile an edit of my favourite J.Crew SS113 picks for you (and me) to ogle right now. Enjoy…

Weekly Wish List: Vestiaire Collective Edition

I don’t know whether you’ll remember my post on Vestiaire Collective last year. When I first heard that the Parisian pre-owned designer e-tailer would be gracing our shores, or rather our browsers, I was very excited but while I expected it to be a success, I didn’t anticipate quite what a phenomenon it would become. In retrospect, I shouldn’t have been remotely surprised at the voracity with which the fash pack pounced on this online treasure trove of sartorial goodies. For those that don’t know, Vestiaire Collective is a designer reseller unlike any other. Not only do they stock the absolute cream of the crop clothes wise (think sell out Kenzo sweatshirts and Celine Trapeze bags) but every single item on the site has passed a plethora of quality and authenticity checks performed by their team of experts in Paris, something that will no doubt be music to the ears of anyone who’s ever been swindled by knock offs on eBay. Yesterday marked one year since Vestiaire Collective’s UK launch so in celebration of twelve fash-tastic months, they invited me to curate a dedicated VC wish list. But take note, these goodies won’t stay unsold for long so I recommend you stop whatever work you’re doing and get shopping!
