Pyjama Time

Now I know this will seem like I’m just jumping on the pyjama dressing bandwagon six months late but I’m not, I promise! I’m a bit of a pyjama addict myself so thought it was high time I did a post on them. I’m also lame enough to be religious in my wearing of floral cotton during the summer and tartan wool in winter, regardless of the predictably unpredictable British Weather. That said, it I owned a couple of sleek silk pairs I would most likely wear them all year round. Anyway, enough about me and my obsessive wardrobe habits, get a load of these bed-time-tastic beauties…

Admittedly most of these jim jams (as my father inexplicably calls them) are glam enough to wear out of the house without looking like a madwoman but personally I envisage them being worn while having breakfast in bed, opening presents on Christmas morning or nursing a festive hangover with Gossip Girl re-runs and a vat of coffee. While we’re on the subject of wearing pyjamas out of the house my policy is that if their super luxe and silky, add heels and go for it. If they’re of the wooly/extra comfy variety then only wear so far as the corner shop or nearest Starbucks, provided it’s under 10 minutes away. What’s your view on it?

LPA Loves: BLK DNM

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but BLK DNM has been cropping up a lot in my weekly wish lists of late. So much in fact, that I decided it was high time I did a whole post devoted to them and them alone. In case you didn’t know (unlikely) BLK DNM is the cult New York label currently setting the fashion world on fire and it’s got serious style credentials. It has the igenious brand name (things just sounds hipper vowel-less, non?) and the A-List ambassadors (think Chloe Sevigny and Madonna)… The so-cool-it-hurts tumblr and devoted fash pack following not to mention, a founder whose been dubbed “Tom Ford of downtown” more than twice. But most of all, BLK DNM consistently delivers garments so goddamn gorgeous you’d sell your grandmother to own them. Case in point: their latest special project, a limited edition 8 piece collection of luscious-beyond-belief leather jackets incorporating everything from alligator skin arms to plush purple pelt. But these my fashion loving friends, are only the tip of the ice berg.

After 20 years in the fashion industry, you’d expect man-behind-the-brand Johan Lindeberg to know a few things about making luxury feel like a necessity, but BLK DNM conveys such a temptingly tangilbe image of Manhattan below fourteenth street chic that you don’t even feel co-oerced into wanting to buy into it… You just do. While admittedly it’s not my usual bows, collars and embellishment galore style, every girl needs good basics. And basics don’t come much better than these now do they?!

Ps) To any of my friends or family who might be reading this, all I want for Christmas is… a BLK DNM limited edition leather jacket. And yes, I know prices start at £2170/¢3495 but given that I’d basically live in it, on a cost-per-wear basis it would be practically free!

Novelty Knitwear

Having recently spent the best past of a month careering around town for the SS13 press days, I almost forgot that Winter’s barely even started yet! Plus here in London, Spring doesn’t really arrive until about July… If it makes an appearence at all, so we’ve still got plenty of time to covet, buy and get our money’s worth out of novelty knitwear. As someone who wears bedsocks and sleeps with a hot water bottle from September, I’m a pretty big fan of knitwear full stop. But wooly wonders that keep you warm and make you LOL? That’s nothing short of genius. Like most fashion obsessives, I’m more than mildly obsessed with Markus Lupfer’s tongue-in-check embellished sweaters. Over the past couple of seasons the high street has also churned out tons of playful and non-bank breaking versions so that anyone and everyone can have fun with their knits. A couple of years ago I picked up a red Christmas jumper at Zara that I’ve worn time and time again and you’ve no doubt seen crop up in my look du jour posts on numerous occasions.
