LPA Loves: Lily and Lionel Flamingo Print

lily and lionel

After fashion week I told myself that between then and the end of term I would ignore even the juiciest of press releases in an attempt to meet my uni deadlines. Well, as you may have guessed that didn’t happen. I tried to restart the initiative again as of last weekend but then I spotted a snap of the latest Lily and Lionel arrivals and they were so covetable I decided it would be ridiculous not to post them. My love for obsession with the Lily and Lionel designer, Alice Stone’s scarves is no secret. Over the past year I’ve featured in two of the brand’s lookbooks (yay) and managed to amass a small collection of their super chic summer stunners but as with all fashion related items, one, two or even four is never enough.

The second I layed eyes on this flamingo print stunner it rocketed straight to the top of my ever-growing SS13 wish list. How perfect would it be for those mid week mornings-after-the-night-before where you need to look polished but can’t summon up the energy to put on anything other than jeans and a t-shirt? Or just displaying around the house like the exquisite creation it is.

Valentines Wish List 2013

Two weeks to go until Valentines Day and shops, restaurants and bars everywhere are no doubt eagerly awaiting, or already enjoying, the clink of their tills growing ever fuller. This makes me sound like I’m one of those ultra cynical types who refuse to partake in any sort of V Day celebrations on the grounds that it’s a purely commercial holiday which I’m really not. I’m not an idiot, I’m fully aware that  February 14th is a perfect excuse for retailers and restauranteurs to cash in on those of us with more romantic natures. But, my fashion loving friends, it’s also an excuse to demand an extravagant and entirely undeserved present from that special someone or, just buy one for yourself! Here are a few of my valentines wishes this year, let’s hope the bf’s feeling generous…

LPA Loves: Print Denim

I know I talk about this a lot and really should have gotten over it by now but isn’t it SO frustrating that the weather refuses to comply with the fashion seasons? The fash mags are bursting with pastels, florals, lightweight jackets and even a bit of broderie anglaise but much to my endless irritation it’s still too bloody cold to wear any of it! There is, however, one solution. Well actually there are two. The first is just to be seriously brave/foolish and just wear it all now, regardless of whether the result might be hypothermia. The second, rather more feasible option is to channel the new season vibe while not risking hypothermia… How? Print denim. Until last year I wasn’t all that in to denim due to my deep seated and entirely misguided belief that skirts were chicer, sexier and generally more glamourous. But all of that changed thanks to a pair of pastel blue J Brands which I wore to parties, press days, meetings, hot dates, picnics and basically every other conceivable occasion. Since then I’ve experimented with lengths, washes, leather finishes and eye-popping hues but this season I’m going to be all about print denim. Not only is it a failsafe way to update your wardrobe but, as I noted at the press days way back last autumn, SS13 brings with is some truly awesome styles. Here are a few I’m currently coveting…

I know some of these jeans are pretty “out there” but just work with me on this one. Imagine them dressed down with a plain white tee or pattern clashed with a bold print shirt, either way it’s FROW worthy!

LPA Loves: Stationery

I definitely don’t neet to tell you how much I adore all things fashion related. I mean, it probably occupies around 80% of my time and a shameful (not to mention worrying) 99.9% of my head space… This entire blog is devoted to it! But now let me introduce you to another of my great loves, stationery. I remember how during my school years, when the end of the summer holidays drew near the only thing that remotely excited me about the beginning of term was the prospect of treating myself to a snazzy new pencil case. Well since leaving school, that hasn’t changed a bit. I still hit up Libertys’ stationery department on a regular basis to indulge in floral print notepads (most of which remain unused, they’re too pretty to defile) with matching pencils. Whenever fashion week comes around I’m among the very small number of journalists who still write their show notes by hand and naturally I stock up on super cute floral jotters for the occasion. With my Spring term only a few lectures in and fashion week around the corner I feel it’s high time I indulge in a spot of stationary shopping and strongly recommend you do the same! Here are a few of the goodies I’m currently coveting…
