Given that I’ve spent the best part of the past two months bemoaning the sports luxe trend that’s been EVERYWHERE for SS12, it may come as a surprise that I’m now writing a post on it. Well don’t worry, I’m not about to ditch my beloved blouses and pastel pop socks in favour of bodycon lycra and hi-top trainers… Even if the Liberty print ones are rather adorable. High-tech, urban chic may not be in keeping with my personal style, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate it. After all, who could criticise Stella McCartney’s playful, printed mesh dresses? Or dare to knock the nonchalant cool of Isabel Marant’s slouchy baseball tee’s?

Much like Mary Katrantzou and digital prints, you can’t talk about athletic style without mentioning Alexander Wang and this season New York’s King of casual truly outdid himself. Think laser-cut bomber jackets, nylon cargo peplums, perforated leather and super sleek silhouettes… It may not be my cup of tea but it’s haute sport you’re after then there’s no doubt that Wang does it best.
